Billy Elliott Tickets
Based on the hit film, Billy Elliott the Musical is the story of a young boy’s journey to realize his dream. The setting is North East England during the miner’s strike of 1984/85.
While attending boxing lessons, Billy discovers his passion for the ballet but knows he must do it secretly to avoid the disapproval of his working class family.
As a consequence of his friend being arrested during a confrontation between police and the striking coal miners, Billy misses an important audition.
In an effort to straighten things out, his ballet teacher tells his father about the missed opportunity; Billy’s father and brother become outraged at the idea of him becoming a professional ballet dancer.
However, once they have seen him dance, they come to understand that ballet is Billy’s passion; and his Father takes him to an audition for the Ballet himself.
Billy is accepted to the Royal Ballet, and moves out on his own at age 11 to attend the school. The film ends with a scene that takes place about 14 years later, where Billy has finally reached his goal as he performs the lead in Swan Lake.
